The Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery is a key specialty of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, a principal discipline of integrated TCM and Western medicine in Zhejiang Province, and the research center of integrated therapies for gastric cancer. It plays a significant role in Zhejiang Medical Association, providing a platform for medical students from across the country to receive standardized training of gastric cancer, and the laparoscopy training base of Zhejiang Province.

Healthcare Facilities and Centers:
The Conversion Therapy Center for Advanced Gastric Cancer and the Pelvic Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Center are at the leading level in terms of treating gastric cancer with peritoneal implantation and metastasis, multiple organ resection, and treatment of pelvic tumors. 

Research:
Won honorary titles of Key Laboratory focused on treating tumors in digestive system with integrated therapies in Zhejiang Province;
Served as Cancer Research Institute of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University and Zhejiang Provincial Center of Integrated Therapies of TCM and Western Medicine for Gastric Cancer Prevention and Treatment;
Undertook national key research projects, such as using 3D visualization technology for assessing tumor location and simulating surgeries, as well as conducting anatomical pelvic resection.

A team of specialists focus on gastroenteroscopic and laparoscopic treatment of early gastric cancer, conversion therapy for advanced gastric cancer, NOSES for colorectal tumors, transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME), cryotherapy for rectal cancer,. open and minimally invasive surgeries for inflammatory bowel disease, hernia, and thyroid diseases to improve survival rate and life quality, applying TCM therapies to recurrent digestive system tumors, using externally applied and orally administered ginseng ointment and moxibustion, ear acupuncture, cupping and nursing treatment to promote intestinal peristalsis recovery after gastrointestinal cancer surgeries.
