The Dept of neurology was set up in 1992, now has 124 inpatient beds in two campuses. It is the key specialty of 11th and 12th five-year plan of State Administration of Chinese Medicine, member unit of encephalopathy clinical study cooperative group, integrative Chinese and western medicine of encephalopathy key constructing unit of State Administration of Chinese Medicine, Zhejiang Provincial Neurology Center, clinical pharmacology base of State Food & Drug Administration and Stroke Center of Chinese Stroke Association. 
The Dept has 1 academic experience inheritance instructor of national outstanding TCM expert, 2 doctoral supervisor, 4 master's supervisor, 6 chief physicians and 9 associate chief physicians. 

The department has been undertaking one international collaborative research work, 3 project of national natural science fund, 5 state-level collaborative research works, 20 others are state level and bureau level research subjects. 2 of the projects    awarded with state-level prizes. 20 of them have been awarded with provincial level prize. The dept has published 200 papers, participated in edition in 11 textbooks.  

The dept is adheres to the principle of strengthening Chinese medicine, integrative Chinese & western medicine, and western medicine, with distinctive features and strong professional capacity. It had achieved outstanding effectiveness in treating such neurological diseases as: acute cerebral-vascular diseases, wind stroke, vascular dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, myasthenia gravis, insomnia, headache, vertigo, neurological rehabilitation etc. 

Especially in the treatment of acute cerebrovascular disease, myasthenia gravis, status epilepticus and other neurological emergent patients, it is on the national top level, serve the patients not only from home land, but also from other countries as Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, the US, Korea and Malaysia.
