The department is a key discipline of integrated Chinese and Western medicine and key innovation discipline in Zhejiang province, It is also the Clinical Medicine Research Center of Cardiovascular & Cerebrovascular Diseases, Professional Agency of National Drug Clinical Trial Base. 

The dept has accumulated rich experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmia, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, valvular disease and various congenital heart diseases with distinctive methods, emphasis on both Chinese and western medicine. 

The department is authorized to grant master's and doctor's degree of integrated Chinese and western medicine, master's of clinical medicine of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, undertaking the clinical resuscitation & treatment, scientific research and teaching work of various cardiovascular critical diseases in the province.

Facilitated with 90 inpatient beds, with distinctive discipline features, strong comprehensive strength and rich clinical experience, the medical teams has 24 members, and 1 is doctor’s supervisor, 3 are master’s supervisors, 7 chief physicians, 9 associate chief physicians and 8 attending doctors, 80% of them with master degree or above. The department own inpatient beds and has trained more than 20 postgraduates and doctoral students. It had cultivated over 20 masters’ and doctoral of Cardiology. 

And the department took the lead in Zhejiang to have 640 slice heart CT, updated  the cardiovascular specialized DSA; gradually carried out coronary intravascular ultrasound, coronary flow reserve measurement, coronary artery plaque rotary grinding, complex arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation radiofrequency ablation and long term event recorder implantation, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy chemical ablation and the number of high-end CRT/CRTD, ICD pacemaker and magnetic resonance compatible pacemaker implantation  grow steadily. Up to now, more than ten thousand cardiovascular interventional procedures have been carried out in the department and all kinds of interventional and diagnostic techniques and projects are at domestic advanced level, which has been highly recognized by academic circles both at home and abroad.
