As the First Clinical Medical College of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, the hospital is also undertaking the task of clinical training for undergraduate, postgraduates and doctoral students of Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Tuina. We receive and train over 500 undergraduates and 200 postgraduates and PhD students annually. Meanwhile the hospital also accepts overseas TCM & acupuncture senior students for clinical internship, and TCM practitioners for advanced clinical training.

Since 2000, our hospital has trained over 200 foreign student and visit scholars every year from over 10 different countries and regions, such as the USA, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, Australia, Korea, the UK, Canada, etc. Some of them are senior medical students or students who have just graduated from TCM College in their motherland coming for the first time clinical internship in the professional Chinese medicine hospital, and others are already TCM practitioners coming for advanced study and experience.  

In the past 10 years, we have undertaken various academic exchange and cooperation programs with TCM education colleges and scientific research institutions from countries such as the USA, Australia, the UK, Israel, Holland, Canada and Germany in the fields of student training, medical service, rehabilitation, clinical scientific research and sightseeing, etc. The hospital has become many schools' clinical training base of their graduates.

After years of development, our hospital has laid a good foundation for the training program of foreign students, we provide not only high level TCM experts with rich experience both in teaching and clinical fields, but also an interpreter team with high interpretation skills and rich medical experience. Furthermore, some of the instructors are excellent translators themselves. Good language condition and consolidated technical skill have benefited foreign students a lot.

In the training program, our teachers have adopted specific teaching skills according to each student's situation and explain profound knowledge in simple terms, so that students have had the primary impression on TCM diagnostic skills such as inspection, auscultation, interrogation and palpation, and their interest in TCM study has improved. Due to the instructors' elaborate training, the students have basically mastered the TCM diagnosis and treatment technique on common diseases and had a better understanding on some difficult and complicated cases within the shortest period of time. A lot of foreign students said cheerfully, "This kind of teaching methods combining theory with hands-on training makes us learn profound knowledge, which we are unable to learn in our own country even in a couple of years, within a short period of time."

Through the learning process, these foreign students have had a better understanding of basic TCM theory, and accumulated certain clinic experience. At the same time, they have seen the mystery of TCM and its contribution to medical development.

Organization of the Training Center

The Foreign Affairs Office of Zhejiang International Exchange Center was specifically set up in the hospital, aiming to provide instant support for students not only in clinical training but also in daily life.
The training center is equipped with strong teaching forces, and provides varies subjects with strong TCM features for clinical training, such as acupuncture, tuina, pediatric tuina, TCM internal medicine, TCM pediatrics, TCM endocrinology, TCM neurology, TCM dermatology, TCM rheumatology & immunology, TCM respiratory medicine, TCM gastroenterology, TCM cardiology, TCM breast disease, TCM nephrology and TCM oncology. Over 15 clinical departments are available to meet all kinds of requirements and applicants.
