The Department of Critical Care Medicine of Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine was founded in 2000. It is one of the earliest established department offering comprehensive treatment for critical illness in Zhejiang Province. It is a key specialty supervised by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Zhejiang Administration of TCM during the 12th Five Year Plan period. It is a principal discipline in provincial universities and plays a significant role in Zhejiang Medical Association. As a top-ranked department in Zhejiang, it has qualified medical professionals, well-functioning facilities, remarkable research contributions.
Medical staff in the department give lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, and offer standardized training of resident doctors from across the country. 
The department has established cooperative bonds with countries including the United States, Germany, Japan for academic exchanges. For ten years in row, it has initiated national continuing education programs, offering services for over 3,000 students in the country.

Healthcare Facilities:
66 inpatient beds;
1,000 inpatient admissions per year;
80 million outpatient visits annually;
rescuing over 90% patients in critical conditions.
 
Medical Staff: 
29 medical professionals including one doctoral supervisor, four postgraduate supervisors;
In terms of professional titles, four physicians have senior titles and seven have vice senior titles;
As for academic degrees, it has four doctor degree holders and 23 master’s degree holders;
In terms of social activities and honors, it has two TCM expertise inheritors shortlisted the national academic experience training program, one winning the honorary title of Young TCM Expert in Zhejiang, one evaluated as high-level innovative medical professional, and one recognized as an outstanding young medical practitioner in Zhejiang. In addition, three doctors have served as visiting scholars in international universities.

Scientific Research Results:
Undertook two projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 12 provincial projects, and over 30 projects initiated by Zhejiang Health Department;
Published over 200 journal articles, including more than 30 SCI papers;
Published over 10 books as the chief editor or editorial member;
Won two provincial awards for outstanding contributions to science and technology progress, and nearly 10 awards given by Zhejiang Health Department;
Obtained two national invention patents approved by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.


Expertise:

Focusing on using advanced life-support equipment including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), as well as vital signs monitoring facilities such as PiCCO, a cardiac output monitor, and critical care ultrasound (CCUS);
Integrating therapies of TCM and western medicine to treat critical cases such as multiple trauma, severe infections, poisoning, serious complications after major surgery, acute gastrointestinal injury, sepsis, severe pancreatitis, and multiple organ failure (MOF).
