Area of Focus: open and endoscopic surgeries for tumors in gastrointestinal tract,  hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for advanced gastric cancer, endoscopic surgery for early gastric cancer (EGC) and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer, including NORTHES surgery, transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME), and intersphincteric resection (ISR), multi-visceral resection of organs involved by locally advanced rectal carcinoma, and surgery for recurrent pelvic tumors caused by gynecological cancer and tumors of urinary tract expanding into colon and rectum, treating intestinal obstruction, intestinal fistula, recurrent colorectal cancer, pelvic tumor, appendix mucinous tumor, and retroperitoneal giant tumor, etc. He has profuse experience in performing surgeries for gastrointestinal conditions as about 200 procedures are performed annually.

Published over 50 academic papers in international and domestic journals, including 6 SCI papers. He served as the leading researcher in Zhejiang Diagnostic and Treatment Center of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Therapies for Gastric Cancer and is responsible for a project initiated by Zhejiang Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
