The Dept of rheumatism and immunology was established in 1950s, is one of the earliest specialized rheumatism and immunology dept in Zhejiang TCM hospitals. The department is long-term committed to the study and treatment of rheumatic autoimmune diseases, and also undertaking the task of clinical teaching, training for all level medical students from Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, and standard clinical internship of residency in Zhejiang Province. 
It is a national professional clinical pharmacology base and a TCM-WM combinative clinic featured with distinctive TCM. It was the former chairman unit of  Zhejiang Immune Disease Association, and now is the rheumatism key specialty of Zhejiang Provincial Administration of Chinese medicine. 

The apartment has 9 staff at present, of which, 1 is national outstanding TCM expert, 1 chief physician of TCM and 1 associate chief physician of TCM, 3 attending doctors and 4 resident doctors, and all of doctors have master degree or above of medicine. Over the 30 years development, the dept has created a strong medical team with excellent professional capacity and good medical ethics, had cultivated more than 30 doctors and masters, 6 further-study doctors. The apartment owns 26 inpatient beds, several outpatient clinics, specializing in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Sjogren's syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, gouty arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, scleroderma, inflammatory myopathy and immune hypofunction, sub-health etc. The number of annual outpatient is up to 23000.
Meanwhile, the dept is carrying on projects like CT-guided sacroiliac joint percutaneous surgery for ankylosing spondylitis, the diagnosis of early rheumatoid arthritis by serum CCP antibody detection and magnetic resonance imaging technology, autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to treat autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus.
